Removing Paint From Boat Trailer

removing paint from boat trailer

Quickest and easiest way to remove a boat from a trailer on land! self centering rollers and other trailer mods! the bunks also get replaced!. I bought a challenger 2000 last week, the boat is in good condition but the trailer looks awful! the previous owner had hand painted the galvanized trailer with white paint which is now pealing. i would like to remove the paint and go back to the galvanized finish. need advice on how to remove the paint without destroying the galvanized finished.. A friend of mine restored his (really) old boat trailer last year and opted to use a truck bedliner kit. from what i understand, he stripped the old paint off using a power grinder with a brush attachment, as mentioned above, then primed, and then used a store bought bedliner kit to create a rubberized finish that is super resistant to rocks and gravel..

removing paint from boat trailer --- finished product: this trailer is a work trailer, i'm never ever going to enter it into any beauty pageants. for the spots that are rusted through my intention is to sand as much of the rust away as possible and probably slap some bondo on them. as for the rest of the trailer, my intention is to spray paint primer the trailer.. A rusted utility trailer is by no means past its useful life. in fact, repainting a rusted utility trailer every few years will extend its life. the key to a successful paint job is to remove as much of the rust as possible before painting. you may also want to seal off the rusty area with a commercial rust sealer.
