Struthers, ohio (wkbn) – there will soon be a new boat launch along the mahoning river in struthers. on thursday, struthers mayor catherine cercone miller announced that the launch will be built. The need to pull a small boat up a 45 degree slope prompted this project. it was the last project in a series of four that included a dock, walk way, deck and terrace steps up to the rear patio.. build a boat launch The best time to build a boat ramp is during the low-water period of summer. more of the bank will be exposed during this time, allowing access to much more of the ramp site. the ramp area should be graded to a slope of 12 to 15 percent. whenever possible, the entire ramp should be one grade, but if necessary, a slight change in grade can be. Each weighs 75 pounds, so it will remain in place, and i used two 2' by 2' pavers to transition between the overland section of the ramp and the section in the water. my tray is made from 12' lenths of 2" wood treated to 1.5 pounds per cubic foot retention level, some boards 8" wide and some 6" wide to make up the width i needed..
